Sri Lanka's First Satellite Raavana 01 has been Successfully launched
ශ්රී ලංකාවේ නාමය ගෝලීය අභ්යවකාශ යුගයේ සනිටුවහන් කරමින් ශ්රී ලාංකිකයින් දෙදෙනෙකු නිෂ්පාදනය කළ රාවණා වන් චන්ද්රිකාව අද අලුයම ජාත්යන්තර අභ්යවකාශ මධ්යස්ථානය බලා අභ්යවකාශ ගත කර තිබේ.
නාසා ආයතනයට අයත් අමෙරිකාවේ වර්ජිනියාහි පිහිටි මධ්ය අත්ලාන්තික් ප්රාදේශීය අභ්යවකාශ තොටුපොළෙන් එය අභ්යවකාශ ගත කෙරුණේ ඇන්ටරේස් රොකට්ටුවක ආධාරයෙනි.
පේරාදෙණිය විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ ඉංජිනේරු උපාධිධාරීයෙකු වන තරිදු දයාරත්න සහ තායිලන්තයේ ආසියානු තාක්ෂණ ආයතනයේ උපාධිධාරිනියක වන දුලානි චාමිකා විතානගේ රාවනා වන් චන්ද්රිකාව නිෂ්පාදනය කර තිබේ.
ඔවුන් එම චන්ද්රිකාව නිෂ්පාදනය කර ඇත්තේ, ජපානයේ කියුෂු තාක්ෂණික ආයතනයේ අභ්යවකාශ ඉංජිනේරු තාක්ෂණය හදාරමින් සිටින අතරතුරයි.
අද අලුයම 2.16 ට අභ්යවකාශ ගත කෙරුණු චන්ද්රිකාව හෙට පස්වරු 6.30 ට පමණ ජාත්යන්තර අභ්යවකාශ මධ්යස්ථානයට ළඟාවීමට නියමිතයි.
‘Raavana 1’ was launched into space early this morning(April 18), marking Sri Lanka’s entry into the world space age.
The satellite, designed and developed by 2 Sri Lankan engineers, are shuttled to the International space station. The “Raavana 1” was commenced space with the help of the USA rocket named “Antares” from the mid-Atlantic space station in Virginia.
The cube-sized model satellite was engineered by Sri Lanka’s Tharindu Dayarathna and Dulani Chamika Vitanage who were students of the Peradeniya University’s Engineering faculty and therefore the Asian Institute of Technology severally. They were able to launch this satellite whereas they were learning space engineering at Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan.
The satellite was launched at 2.16 am and regular to succeed in the international space station by 6.30 pm.
